The Scottish Government published Living and Dying Well as an action plan for Palliative Care in 2008.
A number of Health Boards now operative palliative care networks utilising the accessibility of the community pharmacy. Check with your Health Board the arrangements in your area.
Macmillan Cancer Support and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde have developed a palliative care resources folder for community pharmacies in that Health Board. In collaboration with NES, a national version has also been developed which is relevant to all health boards. The resource has been developed to support and enhance the delivery of palliative and end-of-life care by all community pharmacies, irrespective of whether or not they provide a locally enhanced palliative care service.
