The Gluten Free Food Service (GFFS) was introduced in 2014 as a pilot to investigate the feasibility of a community pharmacy-led supply service for patients with a confirmed diagnosis of either Coeliac disease or Dermatitis Herpetiformis.
The Scottish Government announced in Autumn 2015 that the Gluten Free Foods Service would become a permanent aspect of the community pharmacy contract. This followed a review which was published following the initial 1 year pilot. The Gluten Free Foods Service Review and the Scottish Government Response will inform future service development.
We have composed a Gluten Free Key Facts Sheet to help contractors understand the requirements of the service. We will continue to add resource to support contractors with service provision ongoing.
Contractors will be paid £125 a month for taking part in the service. Due to poor CHI capture on CPUS forms by contractors, PCA (P) (2016) 13 made an amendment detailing deductions which may be made from this payment should a contractor’s CHI capture for the service fall below set levels.
