Minor Ailment Service Survey

Tuesday, July 24, 2018

Your pharmacy should have received this very important pack in the post that contains the Minor Ailment Service Questionnaires for your pharmacy. Some pharmacies are reporting that they have not received their eMAS pack. Please let us know if you have had a problem with this.

We have previously sent out communications informing you of the crucial study that our CPS Funded Research Fellow, Lee Boag, is carrying out to explore and demonstrate the national quality and benefit that the Minor Ailment Service provides. This evidence is essential for protecting and developing the community pharmacy network’s contribution to the health of the people of Scotland.

We would greatly appreciate your support to ensure that the 10 questionnaires included in your pack are handed out to patients accessing the Minor Ailment Service so that we can gain the largest national data possible and as far as we can see, will be the largest study of this subject anywhere in the world. Once you have received your parcel, the questionnaire packs can be handed out to patients accessing the service for two weeks, or until all packs have been sent out.

It is very easy for your pharmacy to take part, it would be great if you could complete an online consent form agreeing that you will hand out a pack to the first 10 people receiving a medicine/item on the Minor Ailment Service. The patient will then complete their questionnaire, return it to us and they will be contacted a week later to ascertain the perceived effectiveness of treatment provided.

Can you please share this information amongst your team so they are aware of this? Thank you in advance for your support. The more responses we get, the more powerful Lee’s evaluation will be and the better we can represent and showcase your hard work!

If you have any enquiries about this study please contact Lee Boag on 01224 263101 or l.boag@rgu.ac.uk.
