Community Pharmacy Workforce Survey 2019

We will be supporting NES again with their Community Pharmacy Workforce Survey this year. All of your teams contributed to an almost 100% return rate for the workforce survey in 2018, giving us and NES some really useful and accurate figures to work with. Now that the survey is supported with some of the funding from the Quality Improvement monies (as detailed in circular PCA(P) 2019 (4)), we will be able to gather a complete picture of the workforce across the network.

What is the Community Pharmacy Workforce Survey important?

It will give us a better understanding of staff numbers and skill mix within community pharmacy in Scotland.

The information obtained will be analysed and will help to inform pharmacy workforce strategy planning and development, ensuring we have the right workforce in place now and can take action to ensure that demand is met in the future. 

When will the survey take place?

The survey has been designed to capture a snapshot of the community pharmacy workforce during the week commencing Monday 4th March to Sunday 10th March 2019

How will the data be gathered?

The data for independent community pharmacies will be gathered locally within each Board area by Community Pharmacy Champions. The Company Chemists’ Association (CCA) has agreed to provide data centrally for their Scottish community pharmacy members.
