The Age Scotland helpline, 0800 12 44 222 is open 9-5 Monday to Friday.

We provide information, friendship and advice through a confidential freephone number for older people in Scotland, their carers and families.

Many of the issues which affect older people in later life are devolved so we provide advice specific to Scottish legislation.

The helpline can give advice about

  • local services and opportunities
  • benefit entitlements
  • residential care
  • care and support at home
  • housing options and heating
  • legal issues such as Power of Attorney.

We can also signpost or refer people to a specialist or local service which can provide support, or to an opportunity to get out and about locally.

People can call our friendly team for a chat too; later life can bring times when you need someone to listen.

Age Scotland produces information leaflets about rights and issues for older people in Scotland http://www.ageuk.org.uk/scotland/publications/information-fact-sheets/ , you can order free paper copies by calling the helpline on 0800 12 44 222 or emailing publications@agescotland.org.uk.
